I love how adoption brings families together and the lifelong bond that is formed with people through the miracle of adoption. Last year when we were in the process of adopting Hazel a family that was in country adopting contacted me and told me that Hazel was in the same orphanage as their little boy. They were kind enough to get a new picture of Hazel and then help us as we prepared for our time in country. I was able to meet with them 2 weeks after they got home with their precious little boy as we were preparing to leave the country to meet Hazel.
We have kept in touch over the past year and today we meet with their family for a mini-reunion of two babies adopted from the same orphanage. And it was absolutely precious.
Not only are they from the same orphanage, but they were both born with Down Syndrome at the same hospital, only 4 days apart! Then, in 2012 they were adopted within months of one another by two Texas families who now live 2 hours apart.
We couldn’t get over how much they looked like one another and how their mannerisms are the same. It is really strange.
Hazel was smothering little man with kisses. He wasn’t too sure at first.
But then he returned the kind gesture.
Goodness, it’s moments like today that make me want to shout to the world how adoption changes lives. How these children are worth it. What a special day it was and one that we’ll cherish forever! SO enjoyed our time together!

I wonder if in fact they are fraternal twins split up to make it easier for them to be adopted? Wouldn’t be the first time. They ARE adorable though!
Melissa, we wondered the same thing! The mother’s first names are the same but last names are reportedly different. BUT I looked up the odds of fraternal twins having Down Syndrome and it’s said to be extremely rare. Wouldn’t that be something?!
What I find is odd are all the coincidences. Same town? Same hospital? Birth dates so close together…Ds is not THAT common. Mom with the same first name but different last names…kinda sounds like someone tried to cover it up but not very well. There are twins who have Ds. Obviously it would be more likely with identical but I have fraternal twins who are ‘only’ supposed to have the same genetic material in common as any sibs but let me tell ya…More likely though they have a relative in common somewhere. Especially if they are from a small town. People think all babies with Ds look alike because of the Ds but I don’t think so. These two have quite the uncanny resemblance going on. What a fun mystery for you guys!
So precious!! And I can’t help but wonder if what Melissa says is true too. Who knows…. either way, they will always have a special bond!:)
These two are adorable! You could probably have a blood test to determine if they are related if you wanted to know for sure. Wouldn’t that be something? If so, what an amazing gift that you adopted at the same time, met each other, and now live so close together. Only God!
Was he listed on RR? What was his name there?
Sue H.
Yes Sue he was listed on RR too. I don’t remember his name on RR.
Stasik! He looks sooo good. We were in country together
I’m so jealous (but thrilled for you all) that you got to hang out! I never realized when we were getting a new daughter that we were kidding a whole RR family. I sure am glad.
Amber, Debbie and I were just talking about AG and how adorable she is!! Precious!
