Back From the Land of the Dead

Whew. I’m back.

First though. I woke up with fabulous, glorious news. Colton has a family committed to adopting him!!!! Praise the Lord!!! I’ve been praying lots for that little fellow. In no time at all he’ll be part of a family and thriving!

In other news. The norovirus (aka the stomach bug) has invaded our home, and it’s a booger. Apparently it’s a new strain of the virus that’s sweeping the country.

The big kids came home from church 2 weeks ago and it hit them not long after walking in the door. Three days later they were still vomiting and pooping everywhere, so I called their pediatrician to make sure this was normal and would eventually end. He prescribed some Zofran and they were finally 100% better by day 7.

I spent those 7 days washing about 10 loads of laundry a day, bleaching every square inch of the house, and wiping more bottoms than I ever have in a day. All the while trying to keep Hazel away.

Then I got it. And the entire house shut down for a week. Not really, Justin was a hero. I only asked him to go to the store about 27 times. It really was awful though. Most of the week is a blur. I was very thankful that the kids had some Zofran left. Within the first 24 hours I had lost 7 pounds. It felt like a never-ending virus.

Unfortunately, we were suppose to tag along with Justin for a business trip this week and had to cancel. The kids were super bummed, but there was no way this mama could have made it. Oh well. Life happens.

I’m very thankful that Justin and Hazel have been spared so far. I’m also thankful that I have friends I can call and ask for help during times like this. Thank you Stephanie for picking up our prescriptions at the drop of a hat and always going out of your way to help us.

I’m glad the beautiful weather has stuck around this week! It’s depressing to be stuck inside during winter when it’s 70 degrees and sunny outside. Thankful for this gorgeous January weather and looking forward to a fun weekend with the family. Have a blessed weekend!
